GLS Helps Mary and Charles in St. Paul

We were thrilled to partner with the awesome volunteers from GLS Companies on June 28th to help Mary in St. Paul! Together, we were able to sheet rock the basement bedroom, repair a landing, repair the sub-floor in kitchen, tear out the kitchen and begin installing a new kitchen, landscape, and paint the garage.

GLS Companies is a full service printer with operations in St. Paul and Brooklyn Park.  Their amazing volunteer teams have been working with us for the last four years. We are proud to have partners like GLS Companies. Thank you to everyone from GLS who volunteered with us to help Mary and Charles live in a safe and healthy home!

Condolences

It is with heavy hearts that we share that one of our volunteers, Dan Dustin, passed away this month.  Dan worked for GLS Companies and volunteered with us several times on company-sponsored repair projects.  On his most recent project in June, Dan received our Green Hammer Most Valuable Volunteer Award for his hard work and dedication that day.  Our condolences go out to Dan’s family and large circle of friends.  He will be missed.

GLS Companies Help St. Paul Homeowner

On June 15th, we teamed up with GLS Companies to help Nancy, a St. Paul homeowner who needed some assistance updating, repairing, cleaning and organizing her household.   GLS Companies is a full service printer with operations in St. Paul and Brooklyn Park.  Their amazing volunteer teams have been working with us twice a year for the last three years.   We are proud to have partners like GLS Companies.  Thank you to everyone who came out to help Nancy live more safely and comfortably in her home!

Volunteers from GLS Companies Help South Minneapolis Homeowner

On September 29th, we partnered with volunteers from GLS Companies to make repairs for a South Minneapolis homeowner named Roma.  Roma has lived in her home for her entire life and takes great pride in the fact that this home has been in her family for over 150 years.  She worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Riverside Hospital until she retired.  She spends her time cooking meals for her family and sewing Raggedy Ann dolls for her grandchildren.

Roma would like to continue living independently in her home for as long as possible, but needed some repairs, and safety and accessibility modifications to make that possible. Volunteers from GLS made several repairs, including tearing down an old and dangerous shed, and installing a new shed; replacing a broken sidewalk with new sidewalk pavers; installing a handrail and grab bars; installing gutters; fixing a leak in the roof of a second floor deck; installing an awning; and performing yardwork.

This is the second year in a row that we have partnered with GLS Companies and our third collaborative project with them.  Thanks to everyone who came out to help Roma!
